Senior chip development engineer M/F

Within the R&D department the chip development engineer will be responsible for the development of new micro LED light sources for next generation displays. As a key member of cross functional teams the engineer will evaluate new uLED architectures and integration flows that are compatible with backend mass transfer technologies. Driving experiments with internal and external partners the candidate will gather a detailed understanding of the device physics and will solve technological challenges bringing uLED products from R&D to market.

Role and Responsibilities

Activity 1: Evaluate new chip architectures compatible with mass transfer

  • Perform and coordinate experiments for mass transfer technologies
  • Analysis of the experimental results
  • Qualify integration modules and transfer to the production team
  • Support the equipment strategy

Activity 2: Develop new chip products and transfer from R&D to production

  • Design of chip layouts
  • Optimize wall plug efficiencies on the basis of short loop experiments and in cooperation with the simulation team
  • Qualify process flows and transfer to production team

Activity 3: Participate and drive the generation of new intellectual property

Education and Experience

Master od PhD in physics, semiconductor technology, material sciences or related fields

Five years or more industry experience in R&D development of GaN LEDs and/or III/V semiconductors.

Experience in device physics of III/V semiconductors and product development, experience in interconnect technology is a plus.
